Our Small Pig Ark has been designed specificaly for small breeds and the new, specially bred ‘mini-pot-bellied’ and ‘micro pigs’. It will very comfortably hold two Kune Kunes, for example, or even conventional breed weaners for a month or two before they outgrow it! Please ensure that the size is OK for your pigs, because breeds such as the Kune Kune can vary considerably in size and it’s a little too small for one of our own Kune Kune sows.

Our recycled-plastic arks are perfect for modern animal keepers and their livestock. They are strong, easy to clean, and can be assembled (and dis-assembled) very quickly. While this particular ark is modest in size, it is built to last. The front, back, and floor are all made from 12mm thick panels, so the ark is immensely strong. It needs no maintenance whatsoever, and because it won’t rot or rust, it should last over 20 years.

It can be assembled in less than 10 minutes and dis-assembled even more quickly, if you want. Assembly is tool-less (except for two nuts and bolts if you fit the optional adjustable vents) and is extremely simple. An eye is provided at each end of the roof bar for a rope, should you wish to move the ark with a loader tractor. Hand holes are provided, and two people can lift one of these arks (they actually weigh 47kg).

The central roof panel is easily removed, so adding fresh bedding and cleaning is a breeze. We don’t know of any other arks offering this feature.

This ark has a solid floor. As standard, it comes with an optional door which, when not in use, clips to the front of the house – nicely out of the way but always there if you want to use it. When closed, it is held securely in place by a quick release clip, and makes the ark fox proof. Two optional adjustable vents permit ventilation when the door is closed.

OPTIONS

The ark can be supplied with either Linch pins or D-shackles as fixings. Linch pins are quick and easy to fit, but are not necessarily ‘pig-proof’. D-shackles can be screwed tight. If your pigs are likely to ‘play’ with the fixings, we recommend you consider the D-shackle option. There is no difference in pricing. If you change your mind later (or your pigs change it for you!) both fixings are readily available from us or your local agricultural suppliers.

If you opt for Linch pins, the central roof panel can be very easily removed, so adding fresh bedding and cleaning is a breeze. We don’t know of any other arks offering this feature. With the D-shackle version, bedding is added through the doorway.
