Duck and Goose Houses

We have designed two different waterfowl houses based on many years experience raising our own ducks and geese.

Ducks are easy to raise and keep. They can be a bit mucky as they need water in which to dip their heads, so an old sand pit or something similar makes a perfect little pond for them. Ducks are wonderful for slug control, spending much of their day rummaging around in the undergrowth in search of juicy slugs and snails and other minibeasts. However, not all ducks mix well with vegetables! Heavier breeds such as the Aylesbury, Rouen, Saxony or Magpie will damage small plants in flower and vegetable beds, but the smaller black East Indies and call ducks do little damage, and so are great for the garden.

Geese have a character all their own, and make great 'watch-dogs', angrily honking at anything new. They graze on grass, so are perfect for trimming a lawn or the grass in an orchard, where they also feast on the apples in autumn.

Our small duck house is suitable for two large ducks, such as Aylesburys, or up to four smaller ducks. It has a large pop hole and a ramp for easy access. Our large house is suitable for up to 4 geese or 10 ducks, and has a high door to make entry and exit easier for larger birds. If you need something a little larger still, then why not take a look at our Livestock Arks.
