Poultry Club of Great Britain Guidelines indicate that this house would be suitable for 8 large fowl or 15 bantams. However, we recommend a little more space per bird, and suggest that it is ideal for up to 6 larger birds or 10 bantams. It has two separate nest boxes.

The floor is raised off the ground, so the birds can find shelter or shade underneath. Access to inspect the birds and for cleaning is via a wide back door which can be quickly opened, yet securely fastened in seconds. When the door is removed, there is no ‘lip’ on the floor edge. This, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds as well, makes regular cleaning a breeze. Access to the nesting boxes is quick and easy – just remove two quick release pins. And, if required, the entire nest box can be removed by undoing a few more quick release pins.

Permanent ventilation is provided under the eaves, with an additional fully adjustable circular vent in the front. Even though the sides are made from black plastic, the house remains surprisingly cool, even in strong, direct summer sunlight.

Being plastic, the houses require no maintenance. There are few crevices for pests (such as red mite) to hide in, and the house can be thoroughly cleaned very easily – in seconds if you have a pressure washer. And it will dry out very quickly, too.

Although large, this house can be carried by two people. and if you ever need to dismantle your chicken loft for any reason, perhaps because you are moving house for example, you can easily do so and then rebuild it just as easily. Your loft will not be damaged by this process.

PERCHES. The Loft comes with two easily removable perches but, if you have meat birds or larger breeds such as Orpingtons or Brahmas that prefer not to perch, you will not need to fit the perches.

AUTOMATIC OPENER. We also offer this product with a standard rectangular doorway (See image above), suitable for use with the VSB fully automatic door opening and closing system made by AXT Electronics. If you already have a VSB electronic opener, order the version “suitable for Automatic Door”. Note: You will probably need some important accessories. We do not offer a run for Chicken Lofts – We recommend poultry netting to provide sufficient area.
