Poultry Club of Great Britain Guidelines indicate that this house would be suitable for 5 large fowl or 9 bantams. However, we recommend a little more space per bird, and suggest that it is ideal for up to 4 larger birds or 7 bantams.

It is a raised version of our best-selling Chicken House, giving your birds shelter from the Sun and the rain, as well as reducing the chance of rodents nesting under the house. The gap underneath is 225mm (9″) tall, enough for most birds to get underneath where they tend to scrape out a dust bath.

The door is designed so that it won’t trap dirt in the door slots, and it can be easily opened and closed. Access to inspect the birds can be gained via a full width back door which detaches using quick release pins. When the door is removed, there is no ‘lip’ on the floor edge. This, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds as well, makes regular cleaning a breeze. Access to the double nesting box is quick and easy – just remove two quick release pins. And the nest box lid can be completely removed for cleaning by undoing two more quick release pins.

Four fully adjustable circular vents provide plenty of ventilation. Even though the sides are made from black plastic, the house remains surprisingly cool, even in strong, direct summer sunlight.

Being plastic, the Lodge requires no maintenance. There are few crevices for pests (such as red mite) to hide in, and the house can be thoroughly cleaned very easily – in seconds if you have a pressure washer. And it will dry out very quickly, too.

Carry handles are cut into the roof, so it is easy to move. But, even if you need to dismantle your hen house for any reason, perhaps because you are moving house for example, you can easily do so and then rebuild it just as easily. Your hen house will not be damaged by this process.

PERCHES. There are two perch options to choose from. If you have meat birds or larger breeds such as Orpingtons or Brahmas that prefer not to perch, select the ‘No perch’ option.

AUTOMATIC OPENER. We also offer this product with a standard rectangular doorway (See image above), suitable for use with the VSB fully automatic door opening and closing system made by AXT Electronics. If you already have a VSB electronic opener, order the version “suitable for Automatic Door”. Note: You will probably need some important accessories. We do not offer a run for this the house – We recommend poultry netting to provide sufficient area.

COLOURS. The colour applies to the roof, the door and the nest box lid only – all other plastic parts are black. This product is available in the following colours (see colour swatch below): Black, Green, Blue, Yellow.
